Context

As part of the Beginner UX Design course offered by UX Academy, I collaborated on a group project to apply foundational design principles in a real-world context.

Problem

The app lacked interactive features that were tailored to individual users, resulting in a less engaging and impersonal experience.

Solution

We introduced new functionality designed to personalise the app experience for each user, making interactions more relevant, supportive and confidence-building, including customisation elements to personalise the AI Bestie.

Insights & process

I conducted interviews with four frequent app users, representing a diverse demographic and totalling eleven individuals as a collective group. The goal was to identify their pain points, generate new ideas, explore potential solutions, and develop a process flow.

From the feedback gathered, it became evident that users felt most confident when they could speak with someone they trust, typically a friend or family member.

Wireframes

Starting with wireframes allowed us to structure the layout of new features, refine the concept, and establish a solid foundation for developing high-fidelity designs.

Usability testing

We carried out usability testing on the initial concept to identify areas for improvement, which informed the development of the final outcome.

Final prototype

Final prototypes were developed based on user feedback and presented back to HopStair.

"Reflecting on the course, it provided a solid foundation in progressing from an initial question through research and concept development to a final app prototype. With more time, and building on user feedback and additional ideas, we could have further expanded both the app and the overall concept."
